1866Mhz RAM Issue

I have two 4gb sticks of Corsair Vengeance RAM that have a clock speed of 1866Mhz. When I go into the BIOS it says they are running at 1333Mhz. When I manually set them to 1866 and save it reboots and tells me the system failed to boot because of an overclocking error. When I go back into the BIOS the memory frequency is set back to 1333Mhz. Would this cause performance issues when running games like random FPS drops for 5 minutes and then back to normal 60fps? Also how do I fix the overclocking error when I'm clearly not overclocking.

Yes I can do all this when I get home later. Unfortunately I had to downgrade the mobo because my sabertooth 990fx was giving me overcurrent usb problems and a few other things. I installed an older motherboard I had laying around its a gigabyte ga-970a-ds3. It supports memory speed up to 2000mhz and dual channe.
