This is a bit of an interesting problem but here we go. I had originally bought a DIY pc case and I connected my front panels but the power led didn't work NOR did the usb 2.0s. I had decided to return it to newegg and then went to my local microcenter and got a Nzxt Phantom PHAN-001WT case. After a couple of hours of installing the components I have, the usb 2.0s did work but the power led still did not. I do not know whether or not if I got another faulty case or if my motherboard is somehow damaged. I don't, however, have a CPU or RAM installed on the board so I'm not sure If that could somehow prevent the led from not powering. I have looked at the motherboard's front panel diagram dozens of times so I am 100% sure I have connected everything right. The motherboard I have is a MSI z270 gaming pro carbon. I'm also not sure If the rgb on the board requires you to download the drivers on it or not because that doesn't light up either.

Sounds to me like you've just got the connector on the wrong way around, make sure it's plugged into pled on the board, switches like reset switch and power switch can connect anyway round, but leds like power led and hard drive led need to be the right way around.
