Something wrong with 1080 Ti? (Black screen)

So I recently upgraded from a 980 Ti to a EVGA SC2 1080 Ti, and believe I did everything right.

I uninstalled all my previous drivers before upgrading, then downloaded new ones with GeForce Experience.

All the PCI-e cables are powered (this one was a 8 pin and 6 pin), and everything seems great.

But something unusual is happening: after each startup, when I open a browser window for either Firefox or Chrome, the screen turns dark for a few seconds, then goes back to normal.

I have no idea what is causing this, and this did not happen with my 980 Ti, so I was hoping that someone could shed some light on this weird issue.

Solution
Open any overclocking apps and check if they are all set to the normal settings. Also, check if the display cable version is correct with the monitor. (So for example the gpu supports hdmi 1.4 and the monitor is 1.2, that may cause some problems. Try installing drivers for your monitor as well.

Will that remove anything or change any outstanding settings?

I have a lot of games and programs, and don't want to lose any of them or have to reinstall.

This seems to be it. I undid my current settings with Afterburner, restarted and there was no issue.

It was strange, nothing else seemed to be wrong save for those few seconds of black, but now things seem to be fine.

I'll have to look up a better way to OC I suppose.

Yeah, it was most likely to be overclock unstability, this has happened to me before, so for now, looking for a stable overclock should be best. Just think of the black freezes as your pc being a bit angry at you for overclocking.
