My external seagate plus 3TB wasn't working, so I decided to pry open the whole case and use the enclosed seagate barracuda in my pc as an internal drive. After formatting and wiping data on it, the drive only allows me to use 2TB with 700+ GB of unallocated space. How do i access the locked up 700gb??

Solution
Does your computer have an advanced UEFI instead of the old BIOS? And is your drive partitioned to GPT instead of MBR? Old motherboards did not support GPT partition style, they only supported MBR, which is limited to 2TB capacity.
