Best Settings for Smooth Gameplay in Minecraft?

Hi, I've been having trouble finding the best settings for Minecraft. I have constantly choppy gameplay and stuttering when chunks are loading. However I can get up to 200-500 fps with the game maxed out, so fps clearly isn't the problem. It feels like a CPU issue, but I constantly monitor my temperatures and usage and it never goes above 50-60% usage and never goes over 55 degrees Celsius. Here are my specs:

AMD FX-6300
WD Blue 1TB HDD
8GB Ram
GTX 1050 Ti
500W PSU

I just need to find settings that make gameplay and chunk loading smooth. I'm fine with taking off 50-60 to even 100 fps as long as I can get smooth gameplay. Please reply if you have any suggestions, thanks.

Anyway, big fps swings can give a worse experience than a steady but lower fps. Not sure if Minecraft has fps capping, if not use a program like MSI Afterburner to cap your fps. If you have a 60Hz monitor try capping your fps at 60 or if you really want 120 although I don't see the point in going higher than 60. Just use a multiple of your monitors refresh rate so 60, 120, 180, 240.

My monitor is 60hz. I'm not going to cap it at 60 because if I go into a lag-intensive area my fps will drop below 60 and be awful. I've tried capping it at 120 and 240 and so on and the issue is still there.

Your logic is flawed. If your minimum fps is currently 100fps then capping at 60 fps will mean your fps never drops and you get a smooth 60 fps constantly as your setup is capable of always putting out more than 60. Also lets say your setup has a minimum of 50 fps, then the swing in fps would only be 10 fps or 17%, without a cap the swing will be much higher. If you cannot hold a constant 120fps then it is worth trying 60.

Ok I mean I'll try capping it at 60 and give you feedback, but I'm just telling you now that from prior experience its gonna feel choppy and bot smooth.

My game is still choppy no matter what I put the max framerate to. Its not a gpu issue at all, it seems to be with the cpu but i have no idea what to do at this point. It feels like ive tried everything.

If your framerate is ok I don't see how it can be a cpu usage issue. I know it should be ok with that game but can you check both RAM and VRAM usage while gaming? Are you running mods?

FYI capping your fps reduces the load on both CPU and GPU. When capped at 60 or 120 did you get a stable 60 or 120 fps or were there some drops to lower fps still?

Yeah I constantly monitor ram and vram usage and nothing seems to look bad. No mods besides optifine and the same issue occurs without optifine.

And no, if my fps is locked at 120, it will constantly go below 110 or 100.
