Hi Team,
Greetings,
Please help me as i am facing this error of "DATA ERROR(CYCLIC REDUNDANCY CHECK)"

i) I have removed my dell laptops internal HDD(500 GB) and inserted it into external hard disk enclosure SATA 2.0.
ii) Previously i have put HDD password and i remember the password also.
iii) Now when i insert the external HDD into SONY VAIO laptop.
iv) 1st thing is it does not show up in my computer.
v) I went to Disk Management and able to find 465 GB unallocated space.
vi) And system has poped up for MBR(master boot record).
When i click the ok button.
throws error. "DATA ERROR(CYCLIC REDUNDANCY CHECK)".
I tried through cmd prompt also but failed. Is there any solution to get my Hard Disk corrected.

Regards,
Dinesh.S

Solution
You are getting CRC errors for one of the following reasons:

1. Damaged cable
2. Damaged PCB (unlikely)
3. Damaged media (likely)
4. Damaged/Failing heads (likely)

If your data is valuable to you, seek professional data recovery assistance before trying anything further. Every time you power on a failing drive, the damage is likely getting worse.

Dr_Luke, just before end-user follows your advice, I would like end-user to put that HD right back into the Dell where it came from, and simply do a power up and HD password entering. My idea comes from this earlier snippit:
"...Previously i have put HDD password and i remember the password also..."
