Should I upgrade to a Ryzen CPU?

I'm looking to upgrade my gaming pc and I have looked into the new amd ryzen cpus. Specifically the ryzen 5 1600 as i seems like the best balance between performance and price. However it would mean buying a new mother board aswell, and i would asume new ram also. This would end up costing me £400+ and i'm not sure how much better performance in games i would get.

My system as of now

CPU: amd fx 6300
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970-UDP3
RAM: 2x 4gb crucial ballistix sport
GFX card: asus GTX 1060 3gb
PSU: EVGA 500W 80+

Feel free to give other suggestions for upgrades aswell.

52% faster than the previous generation of AMD CPUs which is what you have, so much faster, and the 1600 is a great buy, but you are right, it will cost you approx £400, £200 for the CPU, as for the motherboard, a B350 will do fine, around about £80 ish and then you'd need DDR4 ram, depending on what you want, 8gb (2x4gb) will be about £70-£80 and 16gb (2 x 8gb) about £130 upwards.

I guess you are in the UK, so have a look at Scan, Overclockers, Aria, Ebuyer, but think about added postage costs bumping the price up if you decide to buy from multiple stores, you can get free delivery on most parts from ebuyer, and if you are an overclockers forum member with so many posts, you can get free delivery from them too.
