GTX 1060 or GTX 1070

Hello guys! I am planning on upgrading my i3 to a ryzen 7 since i want to get into game development and other stuff regarding that area of expertise.

My current build is
CPU: i3 6100
GPU: GTX 1050ti 4GB (MSI)
RAM: 8GB HyperX 2133hz (dual slot)
MOBO: MSI b150 PC Mate
PSU: Corsair 450CX

I want to switch to
CPU: Ryzen 7 1700
GPU: GTX 1060 OR 1070 ( will discuss below)
MOBO: ASUS crosshair VI Hero
The rest will stay the same for now

So in Greece the 1070 from asus costs 570 euros and from MSI 600 euros
the 1060 from asus costs 420euros and from MSI 400

There's a fairly big difference in price between them, so my question is, is it worth spending 100+ euros for the 1070 or the difference is minimal? I am planning on a dual monitor setup, one 29inch ultrawide monitor at 2560x1080 and a 24inch monitor at 1920x1080. I also game on this setup new titles and old alike. So will i benefit a lot from the 1070 or should i go with the 1060 and save me the 100+ euros?

With an ultrawide 2560x1080 monitor you definitely need to go with the 1070. The 6GB 1060 is a good match for 1920x1080 but you have 1/3 more pixels to push over that which will affect 60+ FPS performance in some games, especially when it comes to minimum FPS which is where stutters can happen.

On average the 1070 performs about 35% faster than a 1060, and according to your pricing, the cost difference of the 1070 over the 1060 is about the same as well which means great cost/performance improvement match (unlike say a 1080Ti costing 35% more than a 1080 but only being about 12% faster).

The 1070 will be a lot better card for you. I have had a 1060 and it was ok but I upgraded shortly after. By the way if you get a 1060 the gigabyte version has bad coil whine and gets quite hot. Also mine became faulty after 3 months so I would avoid it if you do buy a 1060
