First time builder here.. I know there are questions like this all the time but I just can't figure out what's wrong

So I got my whole build assembled, boot up first time and I get no signal from the gpu (Asus GeForce 1050 Ti 4G, I've seen some unboxers call it the "phoenix" model) video output through the hdmi port (tried on 2 different monitors). I removed the card, booted up just fine with the video output from the motherboard and downloaded the latest driver from nvidia's site but it says it can not actually install it without the card in place.

Problem is, when i reinsert the card I get zero output from either the motherboard or the gpu. Not only that, I can't turn the system off normally with the card in.. I have to flip the switch on the PSU to power everything down (that might be a minor thing I'm overthinking.. again, first time builder.)

The card I'm using draws all of its power from the motherboard; when I turn the power on the gpu fan IS running along with everything else that I can see.

I've checked the stickied checklist and I feel I've double and triple checked everything on it... I've checked a billion other threads, youtube vids, manuals and I've gotten nowhere.

Do I just have a busted card or is there anything I can do? Is there any way to boot up from the mobo output with the gpu in?

Full specs
- Intel - Pent G4560 3.5 Ghx dual core
-Gigabyte GA-B250M-DS3H
-Crucial 8GB Single DDR4 2133 MT/s (PC4-17000) DIMM 288-Pin Memory
-WD RE4 1 TB Enterprise Hard Drive
-Asus GeForce 1050 Ti 4G
-Corsair CX500 80+ bronze cert.
-Deepcool tesseract SW ATX mid tower case

Anything I can do? Thanks in advance!

Have you tried something like prioritising the integrated graphics in BIOS?

The idea is that motherboards tend to prioritise a graphics card if one is plugged in, and by changing the priority in BIOS (with the graphics card plugged in), you could boot into, I assume, Windows. This would at least allow you to check in Device Manager if the graphics card is seen by the system (perhaps even under View > Show hidden devices). If it doesn't show there, then chances are the graphics card is faulty.

Holy shit thank you.

I was able to change the internal graphics function from auto to just the mobo, reinserted the card & installed the driver. Got crystal clear video coming out the gpu now.

Many, many thanks
