The last time I was able to use my PC was about a month ago, so I powered it on 3 days ago to use it again.

The PC turned on, but nothing displayed on the monitor. The monitor works fine, as I was able to connect my friend's laptop to it no problem. I switched cables and tried a different montor but still no luck. I even took the PC in for servicing and they said that it displays fine...

Why won't it display? Help please!

That's odd... if your monitor is really working then it should display just normally, where do you turn your computer on? Did you try a different place, have you checked if all the cables are in place? It could be something related to either the monitor like a simple press of a button or even a problem if your house's electrecity who knows, if you can try recording a video so we can better understand what's happening.

1 month is a long time without turning that pc on, but let's get to it -

1 - Do you have Offboard or Onboard videocard with video output cable plugged to it ? And what kind of display output are you using right now? (HDMI, DVI, VGA) ?

2 - Have you tried cleaning your RAM sticks, when they are full of dirt or faulty they usually cause the display to remain black or without signal even if the video card is working well. For example, you turn your computer on, but your monitor keeps blinking it's LED signal but without any image at it's display.

3 - You said you took your pc for "servicing", but were you present by the time they were testing your PC? They could have exchanged any component for testing who knows..

Cheers.

I have an offboard graphics card and it's all plugged in. My monitor only has VGA, so I use a VGA to HDMI splitter in order to connect the cable to my PC.

Yes I have cleaned everything with still no luck.

I was not present when the PC was being serviced. I dropped it off at the company from which I bought it from (it is a custom built PC) because it was still under warranty. They called me the next day and said it was working fine, but of course when I bring it home it does not work.

Have you tried plugging or switching the display to your CPUs graphics instead of your GPU? I'm not sure what is your processor but if it's an intel processor, they usually come with Intel HD graphics, do a test and plug your vga cable to it and see if it displays anything, if it works I would say it is your graphics card.

So I took the PC in for servicing again, and this time I was there when they tested it. It worked on their monitors, but it does not work on mine, even though my HDMI cable and monitor are working fine. Any ideas?

What kind of monitor are you using?
I use a 32" Insignia TV, and have to turn on the monitor itself- the PC will not activate it.

There's a button on the back of my TV/monitor l use to turn it on.
