Hi all,
I am trying to connect my new Asus XG station 2 to my alienware 17 r4.
I use the Alienware predominantly as mobile workstation for gpu rendering, and thats why I wanted an egpu solution. The Asus has all the i/o, decent build quality, and because its TB3 and I work on macs as well, it can be useful with all my machines in the future unlike the Alienware egpu option.
Onto my issue. Everything works, I can see the card in the Asus on device manager and have had it working to drive an external monitor and I can see it for for my render software. My main issue is that this is intermittent. I keep on having a driver conflict (I think), where sometimes Cinema 4d, photoshop, etc. opens with the Asus connected, sometimes they don’t. If I disconnect the egpu with no reboot everything works again.
I have used DDU to remove the nvidia drivers and reinstall fresh ones a few times with no change ion behaviour. The card in the Asus egpu is a 1080ti, so there should be no conflict with the internal 1070. I have the skylake alienware with intel 530 graphics. Any and all ideas welcome on how to solve this.
I am using the latest Nvidia drivers.
