We recently bought a second hand PC, and decided to upgrade to Windows 10 from 7. We did this a few times but the mouse and keyboard never worked in Windows.
After some investigation in the BIOS I have found that the mouse and KB only work through USB when the startup is set to UEFI, as opposed to UEFI and legacy, but Windows only boot in UEFI and legacy mode, otherwise we go to the shell... I feel this is a BIOS problem, so do we need to get a new MoBo? It is a MSI Krait z97s SLI. I cannot find any updates for it on the internet either.

Thanks!

Solution
Did you install chipset and USB drivers?

Other option is to use PS/2 type keyboard, mouse or
(if everything works in UEFI mode) is to reinstall windows in UEFI mode.
It has.
