Can we connect the monitor to the CPU and the dedicated video card at the same time

I just bought a monitor with a VGA port and also HDMI, can i connect the monitor to CPU via HDMI and connect monitor to the graphic card(Gtx 1050ti) via VGA at the same time. If i only connect to the Graphic card, will the pc use the cpu? Thanks in advance

That would depend solely on MB and it's BIOS. Not all support that. If only graphic card is used CPU will have to work too because without it computer can't work but again depending on MB and BIOS it's IGPU will be turned off.
