Hello ! My gigabyte rx550 is not working properly. So i bought the gigabyte rx550, installed it on the first mobo's rail and when i put it in it gave me a red light i tried fiddling around with it but the red light kept terrorizing me, so i ignored it and booted up the pc anyways and it booted up perfectly! So i installed the latest drivers from amd's website rebooted and played mad max on high settings with ~40-60fps no problem for like ~4hours, but then it just minimizes the game, and when i ctr+alt+delete to close it , it says "not responding" near the game, i played other games like: Dead rising 3,battlefield 3, fallout new vegas, gta IV. All crash. I also tried putting in on the second rail, there was no red light so i thought i fixed it, but now but then it gave me a black screen with monitor shutting down afterwards, and then a blue screen saying "Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout fail". I used ATI radeon 4800hd and had no similar problems. my pc's specs Intel core 2 quad q6600 2.40ghz 6gb ram p5k mobo. it could be something simple, and don't hesitate to ask!

Solution

That leaves your low quality power supply, older motherboard or maybe even a bad card as an option. Contact Gigabyte support and see what they suggest doing. If it was my system, I'd buy a better power supply first.
You have an older motherboard, it may not run properly with the new video card. You can try checking for a newer BIOS for the motherboard. What is your power supply brand and model? Did you check what that red light was for in the motherboard manual or support site?

i'll check on the bios, psu: qori 400x (400w). The LED shows thas it's not installed correctly, but how do you install it correctly then, i tried taking in out and in cleaning the rail, i don't know what else to do. Bios up to date
