Hello All.

I have recently put together a multi-purpose computer that I am overall very happy with, but I need help putting the final piece together. I have a very reliable audio interface the uses firewire (which I prefer because it streams data instead of converting it into data packets like USB and can upload and download simultaneously, a combo that virtually eliminates input lag which is a nightmare when recording music) The problem is, when I booted up the computer for the first time after installing the card the BIOS said "Expansion card detected in PCIE 1_4. Please switch from USB 3.1 to PCI something something something" I can't remember the message verbatim because, like an idiot, I didn't write it down and after hunting through the setup menu to try and find a way to make the card work the message didn't pop up again after subsequent restarts. The two components in question are:

-Asus ROG Strix Z270E Motherboard
-IOCrest IEEE 1394b & IEEE 1394a Combo Interface FireWire 800/400(PCI or PCIe) Controller card

Any idea what i need to do to make the card work? It was advertised as Plug and Play and the board definitely recognized something is there, but I need help getting over this final hurdle. Thanks in advance.

It sounds like the PCIe 1x slot you are plugged into is trying to use the expansion slot as a USB 3.1 expansion hub. go into the bios and find PCIe 1x slot 4 which should be the bottom one on the motherboard and see what the settings are for it. i have not sued that motherboard so i cannot say for sure but i suspect you need to change it to a different mode from the drop-down menu. that should work
