Are these parts compatible? Also could someone recommend better ram and/or a motherboard for around the same price-range if possible?
AMD Ryzen 5 1600X
Nvidia GTX 1070
Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2666 C16 2x8GB
WD Blue 1TB (2012)
WD Blue SATA M.2 500GB
MSI B350 TOMAHAWK (MS-7A34)
Carbide Series SPEC-M2 MicroATX Gaming Case
I do not want to replace the case, gpu, cpu, harddrive, or ssd

Solution
Since that is nearly identical to my build, I'd have to say it is (1) fully compatible, and (2) a good 1080p gamer. (1440p maybe as well) I have slightly faster Vengeance LPX RAM, SSD, and a different case, but the basics are the same.

Would the is the GIGABYTE GA-AB350-Gaming board work as-well? I looked into that one only because the reviews were higher.

I didn't know the X versions didn't have coolers. I may buy the normal versions now. Also I already own the harddrives

Either board is good. Gigabyte has always had a bit better reputation than MSI, but I think that is changing.
You asked about a cooler... what can you spend on a cooler? [strike]Minimum I would suggest is the CM 212 EVO if your case has room for its height. (159mm)[/strike]

Edit:
NVM about the 212 EVO. I just checked your case and the specs state max cooler height 150mm.

I'd rather not pay over 35 for a cooler

This is a commonly bought cooler in that price range that fits the AM4 socket.
Keep in mind... if you buy a cooler that clips on to the AMD retention bracket, you can use any cooler that has that mounting hardware. Same as all the previous AM sockets. However, if you get a cooler that requires the removal of the retention bracket and uses the mounting holes, you'll need one that is specifically designed for the AMD socket.
