Swapped out the processor in my mother-in-laws Dell Latitude E5500.
Went from an Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile T7250 SLA49 2.0GHz/2M/800MHz/35W to an Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile
T7800 SLAF6 2.6GHZ/4M/800MHz/35W.
When I turn it on after the boot screen it gives me two beeps then gives me the message:

***Processor Microcode Update Failure***
The revision of processor in the system is not supported.
Strike F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility

I hit the F1 key and it boots into Windows 7 with no problem.
In the System and Device Manager it recognizes the CPU with no problem.
It also shows in the registry.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System\CentralProcessor\0
When I enter the BIOS it recognizes the processor also with no problem.
The BIOS is the last update offered by Dell for the E5500, A19.
It has passed the Dell Diagnostics with no problem.

Other then the double beep when we boot it and having to hit F1, it works fine.

Is there another BIOS out there for the Dell Latitude E5500 beyond the Dell A19 BIOS.
I have gotten no response on Bios-mods.com

Solution
You might try going to Delidded.com and look into the microcode update procedure they use for Xeon swaps. You get the microcode from Intel and then add it to the BIOS table. They list a procedure for Dell PCs. I haven't done this myself so you'll have to find help there.
