So i have a Skylake 6700k and was originally using a Z170-A board... But the board became faulty after a few months and I've sent it in for RMA... But I am thinking of just buying a different board anyways... Would it be smarter to buy a gaming board designed for the Skylake or should i get a Z270 gaming board so i can eventually upgrade to a kaby lake or does it even matter?

Thanks!

Well, if you are going to upgrade in the future, get the Kaby Lake...however, by the time you upgrade, something new will be out. Honestly, the 6700K isn't a bad chip, and should perform well in everyday tasks. I would recommend to just get the Z170, and call it a day.

Well i HAD a z170-a but it already has had a problem which i've never had in past builds... which makes me a little leary of at least the z170-a boards... That and the Z270 boards seem to be a similar price, i just didn't know if they would work as well with my skylake as a board build for skylake would.

Do you know what a good Skylake "gaming" motherboard is?

From what I am seeing Z170 and Z270 are kinda close in price. But yeah i live in the USA and am willing to spend up to $200 for a board but I want one that is for a gaming rig.

So the Gigabyte G1 that i've heard good things about is around $169.99 on newegg

And the Asus Z270F is $179.99

Just not sure which would be more optimal in this situation.
