Case building tips

Well if you look at the new TT tower, it's basically just a square tube frame, with clear panels and a mobo backplate, not really all that much h to it, and signs are built the same way, even to use of acrylic panels etc, so something in that nature is extremely doable for OP. All he'd need would be a square box (easy to make out of aluminum) slightly taller than a standard ATX psu, that'd hide all the wiring and drives, width could be anything, depending on mobo/gpu lengths, height to mobo, and depth could fit any cooler. Very doable design done entirely out of acrylic panels. Slotted base top, couple 120's on each side at the base as intakes, 4x clear led 120s attached at top as exhaust. Or could go nuts with full custom cooling and...
Making a case???
Not possible unless you're DIYing old parts.
It'd cost you hundreds of dollars, and the end product would be shite, and not even guaranteed to work.
If you want a top end case get the Be Quiet! Dark Base 900, also comes in a Pro model with Qi Wireless charging and a tempered glass panel.

There's only 2 major parts to any case. The frame and cover. Of the 2, only the frame is of any importance as it's got to have enough rigidity to stand on its own without support from the cover, and also has to be able to accommodate the components. Unless you are very good at engineering, fabricating etc, I'd strongly suggest you get a frame pre-built, as in a cheapo case off ebay, scrap the cover/plastic, then get as creative as you please on the new cover. You'll just need to research exactly what piece of junk case has the component layout (top or bottom mount psu, hdd bays etc) since you'll also be able to change stuff like riveted hdd bays/optical etc.

If you wanted to get really creative, you could do stuff like get 2x identical mATX or small form factor frames, weld them together, and use a full ATX mobo in 1 with the psu in the other, like the Corsair airflow cubes etc. Totally hidden wiring, hdd, optical etc.

Chug, ppl make cases out of desks, filing cabinets, all sorts of things, a case is nothing more than a box to hold the components, it's not impossible at all to build a case, just slightly challenging and many are absolutely amazing, it's totally dependent on the skill and imagination of the builder.

Yeah, it's more having the skill necessary to do that, unless you're big into DIY projects with the right know-how of materials, structure and tools, it's going to be an extremely challenging and daunting task, especially acoustics and airflow wise.
Modding stuff like tables and desks is somewhat easier than actually building a case, that'd take tonnes of effort and design drafts.

Or could go nuts with full custom cooling and some 240mm rads on the base sides, one as intake and 1 as exhaust in a blow-through design. That would be a serious Crystal cube!
