Just ordered everything I need for a new system to upgrade from my i5 4690K/gtx 980 sli system. I wanted to get input from those with more experience as to the quality of the new system and whether anyone has recommendations for improvement. I just ordered everything from Newegg earlier today and am having it delivered tomorrow. The new build will be as follows:

MOBO MSI Z270 SLI PLUS LGA 1151 Intel Z270 HDMI Motherboard
CPU Intel Core i5-7600K Kaby Lake Quad-Core 3.8 GHz LGA 1151 (also bought a corsair liquid cooler for the CPU)
GPU MSI GeForce GTX 1080 DirectX 12 GTX 1080 SEA HAWK X 8GB (water cooled)
PSU EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G3, 220-G3-0850-X1, 80+ GOLD, 850W Fully Modular
Ram CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB)
Case: Corsair Carbide series 600c
Monitor: LG 29UM68 29" UltraWide Full HD IPS LED Monitor 75Hz

My main concern is being limited to 75Hz with the monitor. But I intend to play games at ultra maxed out settings. I went with it simply because I like the widescreen and the price. Any thoughts/considerations for the entire setup?

You are upgrading i5-4690K and GTX980SLI setup. That combo has lot life left in it. It has only been one gen old. No need to upgrade the entire system. If you really want to upgrade get i7 and that's it. Upgrading only one gen old top of the line hardware will be waste of money. I would recommend you to wait and go for strong Coffelake and Volta setup after 5-6months which will be more meaningful as it will at-least set you two gens apart and the performance gain will be huge and make the upgrade meaningful.

Just don't do that. Wait for few more months to upgrade.

the monitor is an odd choice given its a freesync like already said
now along with that based on the size of only 29in it may work better to just get a 32 inch ultra wide or a non ultra wide monitor around the same size with gsync

True. I just picked up the monitor at Best Buy the other day on sale... didn't really think that one all the way through.
