I have noticed that a lot of new games have various performance issues and was wondering if it could be my CPU responsible

GTX 1060 6GB
FX 6300
corsair 16gb pc3 10700 ram

for example I get a lot of stutter lag with the new mass effect, and the new deus ex can get a bit laggy from time to time on high settings. Was thinking of getting a fx 8250 (and a new motherboard to house it) as it offers great value for a big performance boost. Will it have a significant effect?

Agree with the above. You already have 6 cores going to 8 won't help in over 90% of games. Your better off ocing what you have as whatever CPU cooler you buy could be reused in a new build, any penny you spend on a 8350 is most likely a wasted penny. Also what board do you have? Only maybe 40% of AMD boards actually handle the 8350 properly

What everyone's said already.
I have a 6300 & an 8320 (both running 4.3ghz)

On a gaming level they're identical performance wise , BF1 multiplayer has a few less lows fps wise on the 8 core but that's about it & its still insignificant.

For a proper worthwhile upgrade you need a whole platform change.
