Russian ads in Youtube

Solution
I dont know where chrome hides it prefetch files or settings. Probably in user>apps (hidden), or where its fingers in the system are located (which is why i dont install it in the first place). And this makes uninstalling in 'full' almost a must, and isnt garanteed to wipe the complete history/prefetch/cache.
I know i sound like I am wearing a tin hat, but if a program puts stuff in places other than its installation folder (making it harder to fully remove manually) then I automatically dislike it. (this is how advanced trial-ware tracks how many days you got left, and re-installing wont reset the counter - complete removal does not include the files/folders it installs in a seperate/different location to the installation folder)...

Yes google chrome. On youtube I change the location and put it to my own (Montenegro), then I change it to UK, to US it doesn't change anything. The ads still stay there

I deleted the cache, and I ran Malware bytes. It found some Mail.ru threats and it removed them but still youtube is <mod edit> up.

Also, I forgot to say that, in Mozilla Firefox YT works normally and it also works normally in google chrome incognito mode.

Anyhow, let us know how you get on with the re-install. would love to know how many or how few fingers chrome has.

This isn't a cookie. It isn't the native ads on the site. I have this exact malware and it IS some type of malware. The dead giveaway is that it triggers ads even when subscribed to YouTube Red, as I am, and in fact inserts them into and overtop of YouTube content. It only appears to affect YouTube specifically and only in Google Chrome, as the other browsers on my computer do not share this problem. It also produces non-explicit but very obvious porn and dating site advertisements, and you can bet your boots Google isn't putting those on YouTube.

Scans with both Windows Defender and Malwarebytes do not detect the source of the malware, however Malwarebytes Premium frequently detects the sites used by this adware as being malicious. Another frequent symptom of this is that sometimes simply clicking anywhere on your browser window (regardless of it being YouTube or not) will trigger a pop-up ad in spite of adblockers, but these are the most frequent things that Malwarebytes Premium catches and blocks.

Since a fresh install seems to be the only way to go here, I'm going to do that. But I wanted to register that this is indeed some type of malware problem and not some funky tomfoolery with locations or cookies that affect Google's own ad service.
