Hello all, I currently have a i5-4460 and a GTX 1070 in my system, but I am badly held back by my CPU in games such as Battlefield 1. I do not want to upgrade to a new platform as Intel or even Ryzen is expensive so I was wondering is it worth it to buy a used i7-4790 or even a (k) and call it a day or what is the cheapest possible platform upgrade that will last me for at lease 4 years and will be able to handle my GTX 1070. I would rather save and spend more money for a better thing then settle for less.

i7 4790k is pretty much the only meaningful upgrade from your current CPU, and even though it's 4th gen it's still pretty good for at least the next couple of years, and works well enough with a 1070.
A 4790K and, if you don't have it already, 16GB of RAM would make your computer very competitive with a new build. Still probably not quite worth the money but if you're not happy with the performance then it's the cheapest way to get you there. Are you 100% sure that this is the fault of the CPU and not software?
