Computer lagging due to Graphics Card?

I'm really new to building computers and such but I have recently upgraded a 750ti (yes I know, a dinosaur card) to a 1050ti. Well, since doing this I have barely seen a change in graphics (frequent lag spikes etc) and my computer as a whole is very, very laggy. It wasn't doing this before I upgraded the card. Any ideas at all?

I went on Nvidia's website and downloaded the game ready drivers but I didn't clear the old ones.. how do I go about doing that?

I believe this fixed my problem. Thank you so much!

Great.
I suggest you use a tool like Unigine Valley to record your performance so you can compare again later. Make sure to record the exact settings used.

*There's also a handy thing called "Adaptive VSYNC" which I use for several games.
https://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/adaptive-vsync

Basically works like VSYNC to eliminate screen tear, but turns VSYNC OFF if you can't maintain 60FPS (on 60Hz monitor). I tweak settings so I get some screen tear but not much (5%) which gives a good balance.

NCP-> manage 3d settings-> .. add game-> (setting)-> SAVE (then test)

Really useful for most of the Assassin's Creed games which got frequent FPS drops which would cause severe stutter/lag for a short time. Now I just get a little screen tear when I drop below 60FPS and the game is much smoother.
