My MSI gtx 970 worked great until the other day. I turned on my pc and it stated it needed power to the pci-e (or something like that). I have a 750w power supply and I interchanged it with an 850w and had the same issue. I put my 750w PSU back in and replaced my GPU with an amd Radeon 200 series and it runs. Not sure if my MSI is just shot or what. Thanks everyone.

Solution
Sounds like its either the PSU power cable or the GPU itself. If you still have a warranty on the card RMA it, otherwise there isn't anything you can do.
Filius_Aurorae In your position, this is what I would do:

Disconnect the 8+6 pin PCIe cable from both the power supply and GTX 970. Then reconnect the cable.
Disconnect the 8 pin PCIe cable from both the power supply and motherboard. Then reconnect the cable.
Swap both cables to the GPU and the motherboard for new ones. Your power supply should definitely come with spare.
Submit RMA claim to MSI, as the GTX 970 should still be under warranty.

Well RIP you then, unless you're looking for a budget (460/1050) or enthusiast card (1080+). GPU prices are fucked right now because of mining, so good luck finding a 480 or 1070 or similar near MSRP :)

For some reason my corsair 750w PSU didn't come with cables I could change out. That's when I changed out the PSU for an 850w and still had the same error.

MSI instructed me to clear the CMOS. Did that and got nowhere. Requested and RMA and it is currently being shipped out. We will see how it goes!
