Best first gen cpu upgrade with rx 460

I want to upgrade my i5 650 cpu since it is very weak for gaming and bottlenecks my rx 460 in most games. What would be the best first gen cpu choice of the i5 760 or i7 870?
The i7 is 40 euros more expensive in AliExpress. Would the i5 be enough for my card and there os no need to waste my money on an i7? I mean there is npt worth at all to spend 80 euros on a used and very old cpu. Maybe the i5 is more than enough for rx 460.in userbenchmark there is no significant difference in gaming between those two

It would not be much of an upgrade to switch from an i5 650 to a 760, it does have two more physical cores but I dont think it would really be worth the money in my opinion. One of the first gen i7s is your only real upgrade path on that platform. It may be a good idea do just save and upgrade to a newer platform.

just save and upgrade later the i7 870 is not that great either if you find it at 20-25 usd it might be worth it but for all that you are better off saving for a new gen build (intel/amd) would be better than keep going with a dated platform.

Note sure if it is compatible with Dell OEM motherboards. It is though copmpatible with the older h55 chipset won't it be compatible with my chipset h57? The problem is dell bios and not chipset

Dell bios can be a problem but you can google your dell model and the xeon to see if some people already did it. User benchmark has that kind of info.

yep, xeon X3470 works fine with my dell inspiron 580 pc. Very good cpu but not that good in single core games. I can now play gta v or bf1 double the fps i was getting with i5 650. Below is a benchmark i did comparing the i5 650 with the xeon x3470:
