Funny how one ASUS tech said updating my non-postable MOBL to 0901 would solve my issue, but now the new tech I just spoke to said they are NOT compatible. Joy.

I was being facetious when I said the ASUS 970 Pro Gaming MOBO wasn't compatible with the AMD FX8350. It's kind of due to my issues with the board not posting after a new build and when I called ASUS two different tech's gave me two different answers, One said to update the BIOS to 0901 to fix my problem and then another said they weren't compatible. Hence my statement knowing darn well they were. The sad part is when II called AMD the tech there said the same thing - not compatible. It depends on who you reach when calling support numbers. My third call to ASUS confirmed the boards are compatible but it's sad when you get bogus information knowing they are wrong.

My issue was due to the 8 pin CPU power connector not being hooked up correctly because my CoolMaster didn't have the correct 8-pin.

I'm past that now and getting beeps which is a good sign. One looong beep followed by 2 short beeps - DRAM. NO MEMORY. Thing is I do have memory installed. Corsair Vengeance 2400mhz Pro Series (this board is supposed to take it). So, I tried 1866 MHz EVGA and still no luck.

4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 2133(O.C.)/1866/1600/1333/1066 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory *
Dual Channel Memory Architecture
* Refer to www.asus.com for the Memory QVL (Qualified Vendors Lists).
* Due to OS limitation, when installing total memory of 4GB capacity or more, Windows® 32-bit operation system may only recognize less than 3GB. Install a 64-bit Windows® OS when you want to install 4GB or more memory on the motherboard.
* Due to CPU spec., AMD 100 series CPUs support up to DDR3 1066MHz. With ASUS design, this motherboard can support up to DDR3 1333MHz.

Thanks.

Here's what I found on ASUS tech support on my latest challenge (from another poster with my same issue):

"I have recently found that my system will not beep at POST even with no memory installed, through my PC speaker has been correctly connected.
What can I do to fix this problem?"
Please kindly update your BIOS to version 0406 or later to fix this problem.

BIOS 0406 can be downloaded from the link below:

Something is not right with this back-and-forth. The link you just listed is dead (for me, anyway). But it appears to lead to a download for a BIOS for the wrong board, from the details in the URL. And the board I linked to at the top (supposedly your board), only has ever had one BIOS available. So maybe you better explain what is going on. Asus tech can't be that incompetent.

Believe it or not both the AMD tech and ASUS tech said the same thing. I called ASUS back later that day and spoke with a more knowledgeable tech and he apologized for the previous tech and said he would educate him. I am up and running and the BIOS that came with the board is 0901. If you go to the ASUS support page you can download it from there. I am up and running and now looking to get a M.2 SSD but reading the posts it sounds kinda hairy putting the OS on it. Not so sure I'm gonna go that route but I like the additional speed over the SATA SSD.
