Hey guys I need a gaming PC for $500. I live in Ontario, Canada. I mainly will be playing games like CS:GO and Left 4 Dead 2. I already have all the necessary peripherals and OS. Please help ASAP!! :)

Another option is to look for sales on pre-built machines (DELL, Best Buy, Staples, etc.) and add a used GPU. I recently bought a GTX 950 card for $100 off kijiji.

https://www.dellrefurbished.ca/ offers desktop machines that are returned from lease. And if you subscribe to their emails they frequently have coupon days where you can get an additional 30 or 40% off. They are typically Windows 7 machines, but you mentioned you have an OS.

Lastly, save a few more bucks and go for $700 machine. That'd make a big difference. And the $700 could go even further if you wait for back-to-school sales or black friday.

If you're thinking $500 CAD, then I can't see how to do this with new parts. I tried the following:

  • ■ Intel Core i3-7100 ($150)
    ■ ASRock B250M motherboard ($100)
    ■ GSkill Ripjaws V 1x8GB DDR4-2400 ($75)
    ■ Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD ($61)
    ■ EVGA GTX 1050 2GB video card ($147)
    ■ Rosewill 450W 80+ Bronze PSU ($50)

That's $580+ before HST and does not include a case, aftermarket CPU cooler or monitor.

$558 is the closet i could get and still call it a gamer with a straight face.

This system is $522 with tax. Socket FM2+ is obsolete so it won't be possible to upgrade and the processor isn't amazing, but it is VERY cheap. It won't have any problems running the games you listed at over 60fps with max settings, and should run newer games at medium settings at 1080p with decent (>30) average fps. If you absolutely can't spend more than $500 I don't think this is terrible at all. If you can spend the extra $100 you should definitely go with a better processor like the pentium G4560 suggested by bignastyid.

Honestly I would suggest buying used, particularly the GPU or CPU.

Hey neiler thanks a lot for the link for the refurbished Dell computers. I might actually get one of those because they have pretty good specs and I think it'll save me some money. I've found one that I like and I think that all I have to do now is to buy a graphics card for it. Again, thanks a lot! :)
