so i was wondering is it possible to have a laptop graphics card running on a desktop, here's a link to the opposite of what im asking for working, (https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/8249-mxm-to-pci-e-x16-extension-project-complete-some-kinks-to-iron-out/) and i figured my idea would be easier as to how versatile custom gaming pc's are. here's a link to a old mxm configuration
url
also im not completely sure but i think mxm 3.0b allows more power draw then pcie x16 (150w vs 75w + power supply connectors) and my gtx 1070 pulls around 140w. But main reason was i wonder what if i could use my laptop 1070 on my desktop with my oc'ed 4770k vs my i7-6920hq via dongle and like what if its on ebay

Solution
At this point, it's a fun engineering experiment for tinkerers, not something you do because you just want to actually run it like a normal gaming rig. It's a more interesting thing for developers.
