Hey guys,

so next week I'm building a new PC and I was wondering if it is worth removing the stock Ryzen 7 1700 thermal paste and is the Gelid GC-Extreme that I have sitting at home much better?

Any info on this? Also, what is the best way of applying Gelid GC-Extreme thermal paste if anyone knows?

Solution
I wouldn't as you can hit 3.7~3.8Ghz with the stock cooler. Then the best you can do is 3.9~4Ghz with better paste and a $50 cooler. Put the extra cash in faster RAM to speed up CCX.

Thanks for clear answer. So It's pointless to change the thermal paste, since I'd need a better cooler for 4 ghz anyway. As long as the stock thermal paste gets me to about 3.7 ghz I'm happy.
