How to get stuff from old computer?

Hello everyone, so first off I know very little about laptops. My wife has an old dell laptop with a broken screen and a lost battery charger. I have a sony laptop with an unbroken screen and a not lost battery charger. Is there a way to get the contents of her old laptop over to my laptop (pictures and music and such)? And yes, the her screen is completely broken, no color whatsoever (we know its broken because a long time ago we used her friends charger to start it up once). Thanks for your help

Take out the harddrive from the old Dell laptop. Then, put it into external harddrive enclosure. Something like this: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=0VN-0003-000H3. Hook up the drive via the USB cable to your functioning laptop. Copy the files from the external drive to the laptop. Voilà - your done!

might be able to remove the hard drive and put it in your laptop, if they both use standard 2.5inch drives you should be able to boot from your wifes harddrive, after that you can move your files onto and external harddrive or flashdrive.
Unless the laptops are quite old, or ultra thin ones it should work fine, will require slight disassembly of both laptops though.
