Is it necessary to run a 1200 w or higher on a system with two 1080 ti ftw3 ?
I'm running a gigabyte ga-x99-sli with a 5930k, corsair h100v2, 2 gtx 1080 ti ftw3, 2 hhd, 1 ssd and a 1000w psu.i have about 7 fans .

If you're overclocking it could possibly get a little tight with a 1000w but you should be ok. You could be putting that psu under pretty high load at times. I'd get something at the wall to see how much power your computer is drawing. Could be a UPS or a power meter. Again... "Could" be

each one uses around 300 watts, more or less, perhaps more

add the system consumption and you reach around 800 watts

doesn't sound that incorrect, perhaps a 1000 watt psu

you need to be sure it has the 4 8 pin power cables required

Your current 1000W PSU would have more than enough juice to power your i7-5930K (a 140W-TDP CPU) + 2x GTX 1080Ti FTW3 (a 280-watt GPU each) or 560-watt for both), even in OC. No need for 1200W, unless you are always (24/7) running at full/stressed load and want to hit the 50% vicinity of the 1200W PSU load (highest efficiency in the PSU load curve).

Thanks guys for all the info, Figured I had enough power, I'm not overclocking. Anyways my problem was an issue running SLI and setting up surround, it would always revert back to single monitor and reset all the settings in NVCP I try drivers and spoke to Nvidia tech support and no solution, I tried different configuration and nothing. The monitors would just freak out and it was getting very frustrating couldn't find the solution. Somebody recommended a power supply higher then 1200w , I said to my self it can't ,I didn't see how I need more power. So I went and spent 350 on a power supply hoping to solve the problem and nothing. So up further inspection and reading of my manual for the gigabyte ga-x99-sli mother I finally realized I forgot to plug in ATX4P connector for running more than one card
