Do I need an adapter?

Hello everyone I recently bought my new gaming pc which has a nvidia gtx 1050 ti and im having some issues connecting it to the monitor. I looked up the manual that came with the pc and it says that the cable from the monitor needs to go into the dvi slot on the graphics card not the mother board. However my monitor is vga so would I be able to fix this problem if I bought a vga to dvi adapter such as this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cabling4Less-DVI-VGA-HD15-Adaptor/dp/B000FII810

Do you think that this would be able to work fine?
