What is stealing all this space on my SSD?

I have Win8.1 installed on my 128GB SSD and it always had about 50gbs of free space (I rarely if ever install anything on it). I recently noticed it went down to around 38gbs of free space, and I'm sure I could've never filled those 10gbs of space myself considering I only install Windows Updates on that SSD.
Any tips? If it's worth anything I noticed my Users folder is 20GB big but the files inside it only add up to 10 or so, so there's 10GB of ghost data I can't access nor see.

I would get a 2tb hdd and use it to store everything that doesn't need to be on ssd. I have all my libraries on other drives, including downloads & documents. Also makes it easier to recover from a fresh install if all my music, pictures, documents, movies, steam games & downloads (less important) are on another drive already.

i moved downloads off ssd as running an AV test on the ssd makes my CPU overheat. Probably need a better cooler.

pagefile.sys is 11.5GB, hiberfil.sys is 6.3GB. Is that okay or should I do something about it? Any other files and/or locations I could check for a more thorough examination?

My ram size is a measly 8x1GB for what it's worth

i guess you mean 1 8gb stick and not 8 1gb sticks?

If you don't use hibernate, you can disable and get that 6gb back

I generally leave page file alone, just cause it says its 11gb doesn't mean windows uses it all. I have mine set to system managed but its really only 1gb on my system (but then I have win 10). I would have thought it only be 8gb to match ram size... it shouldn't answer question as it should have been there before.

Try running disk cleanup, it might help. set it to clean system files as well.

I have 250gb ssd, only ever use 45gb myself. I like have 190gb free, i might one day put a game on it... All that is on it is windows + applications. Windows is only 19gb of that.

Lol yeah, 1 8GB stick.

Hybernate alone takes that much space? I'm removing that ASAP. I don't really understand how pagefile works so I'll just leave it be.

It's not like the space taken on my SSD is unrealistic or anything, I still have some diagnostic software installed there, plus all the save data from some games stored in Documents or appdata, plus all the crap and isntallers I never bother deleting in my Download folder probably add up, I was simply bothered by those hidden files taking up so much space without me knowing.
