Have a weird situation. I needed a bigger monitor at work for doing CAD drawings. Imagine doing CAD on a 17" notebook with no external monitor. Found an abandoned Lenovo B750 AIO sitting in one of our offices. The history is the unit started going on-and-off by itself then completely went out and would not boot.

In desperation for something bigger I took the system to my office for troubleshooting. The system has a blank screen when trying to boot. Can not see post. Tried external monitor with same results. Fans are running, HD is trying to read. Tested HD with external dock and it reads on another computer. LED display lights are out for HD, bluetooth.

Another thread showed issues with SATA cables which developed small holes and shorted the system out, not allowing to boot. Once disconnected some systems would boot. Disconnected the cables and will not boot.

As an experiment tried using HDMI input. Connected to my notebook and set to extend monitor. This worked. Why would this work? Would this indicate a defective processor, motherboard, or what?
