I need to send my old graphics card in for repair, so can i put my old GPU in my new pc without damaging my other components?
The old GPU is an AMD Radeon HD 7800 series. 1GB GDDR5
My new pc has a asus z270-p mothermoard and an i5 7600k CPU.

Thanks in advance!

Solution
you can yes if both cards are AMD you probably don't need to remove the drivers
if they are different brands I would uninstall drivers and install new ones

Maybe? You need to have a QUALITY 500W PSU(or better) that has at least 1 6 pin PCe supplemental power cable.

Yep. And the driver issue.

It came with a GTX 1070, so it's different.

Should i instal drivers before putting in the GPU?

No. If you have Geforce Experience installed I would uninstall that and any other Nvidia based software in your Programs and features first. You can then download http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Radeon-7000-Series-Drivers.aspx Power down and unplu your PC. Touch something metal and open your case. Install the AMD card.. Firmly install the 6 pin PCIe connector. Make sure to secure it with a screw or two. The end of it should have a depression or holes where the screw(s) go. When you have closed your case and are back in Windows you can install the driver you downloaded.
