Hi,
I've been searching the web for an answer to my issue, and have found one or two instances similar to mine but none of them have fixed my solution, so I'm finally asking the internet community myself. my ISP is Comcast Business. We have two stores next door to each other, but internet at only one of them. So for the other store, we brought a 200ft ethernet cable, hooked it to the comcast wireless rrouter and connected the other end to another d-link wireless router to provide internet at the other store. Which worked fine.

Recently we had a storm, which broke the 200ft wire (we were bringing it over the roof). I replaced the wire with a new one, same type (Cat5e). But now when I plug it in the d-link router, it never picks up the connection. Thinking maybe the router isn't working well, I bought a Linksys 5port gigabit switch, and same problem with that. The light for the wire every few seconds turns on for a couple seconds, then turns off. As if getting some signal but not strong enough. If I plug the wire directly to the PC it works fine (comcast router to pc, although, internet speed is slower for some reason). But it doesn't work with the wireless router or even the gigabit switch.

I tested plugging the wire that came with the d-link router into the comcast router, and that way internet worked just fine. Speeds were good too. But plugging in this 200ft wire is causing problems. I don't understand why. Its one wire, no joints, no nothing. One long 200ft wire, one end in comcast router, the other in the d-link wireless router. Won't work. Plugging in the cable that came with the d-link router, works just fine. What can I do to resolve this? I didnt make any changes from the comcast router. Everything is still as it was. Please help!

Thanks!!
