hi guys i need help. i just new 1440p 144hz monitor with asus strix 1080ti 11gb oc gpu. my cpu is i7 4770k @3.5ghz and 16gb ram. some ppl say my i7 is more than enough to play battlefield 1 on ultra with some decent fps (100+). I am not getting NEAR 100fps and sometimes it gkes down to 30. is my only solution to buy new cpu as maybe its bottlenecking cpu?
plz help

Solution
LOL. I've been building PCs for 20 years and thought about doing that on occasion too, but usually four letter words suffice. Yeah G.SKILL on the memory. That's all I've been buying for years. Top notch memory, good choice! I'd put the 4770K guts into a backup build (similar two what I've done with my old Sandy Bridge i5 2500K).
Yeah there's nothing wrong with that 4770k pushing a 1080Ti at 1440p. My 1080Ti is being pushed by an i5 4690k (overclocked) You have something else going on. Try downloading and installing MSI Afterburner and creating a custom fan profile to make sure your GPU isn't going into thermal throttling (it will also give you your temps under load).

With BF1 you should be in the 130FPS range on Ultra.

ive done everything possible. i have this software that came with card and it shows temperature. what is nornal temp and what is under load? i think my card temp is around 44C

44C is closer to what idle should be. Under load with not cooling fan profile set, you should see 80-85C under load with the 3-fan Strix under standard internal ambient conditions (25C) and a case with decent airflow. For comparison, my EVGA 1080Ti SC2 Gaming (2-fans) sitting in an Antec Nine Hundred case idles at 40C and with Afterburner off and no fan profile control, it hits ~80C under load. I have my profiler set to run fans up to 90% if the card hits 75C. However it generally runs around 70C with 85% fan speed.

i also have antec casing, some paid good money for it. could it be something wrong with monitor??
40c ive mentioned was in idle. ikl see how much i get when playing battlefield. when im playing infinity warfsre all on ultra i get 91fps stable.

Thermal throttling has nothing to do with being dirty or not. Some GPU BIOS's will throttle back the card's clock speed if it reaches a certain temp (which is why it's crucial to run a custom fan profile to ensure it doesn't happen, especially on a high end GPU). What *is* your max load temp?

Okay so 69C under load is not going to cause throttling. This leads me to think you have a software issue. Wipe out the drivers entirely using a tool like CCleaner and install a fresh copy straight from Nvidia's website. Then download and run Unigine's Heaven benchmark for a couple of loops (while having the GPU temp monitoring program running in the background). Your setting should be in accordance with this for comparison consistency (note the list and scores with people using a 1080Ti):

https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/unigine-heaven-4-0-benchmark-scores-part-2.222125/

When you stop running it and hit F12 to capture a screenshot of the results, the file (a TIF) will be saved to this directory by default - C:/Users/(your name)/Heaven/Screenshots

Let me know the results. I'd also like to know what % GPU and CPU use you are getting in BF1, but you need a GPU monitoring program for that (MSI Afterburner).

thank you for your kind reply and help.
ive just ordered i7 7700k and rog maximus ix formula along with 16gb 3000mhz RAM (I THINK ITS CALL G.SKILLZ or something) ill also reinstall windows and go from 0. if that dont get me 150fps on ultra i also own magnum 44 with alot dum dum bullets ready to unload in that sucker

So bro, have you solved it? I notice my CS runs less than 300 fps in game. And my system is i7-4770k 3.5Ghz and 1080Ti. BF1 I get 60fps constant. Sorry for jumping on your thread, but I read some where on facebook a user said his pc running an i5 4440 and gtx970 can get 270 fps. :O What am I missing here?? o_O

Did you make sure that you haven't looked Vsync to screens refresh rate (if you have a display running @60 Hz)?

My Vsync is set to disabled in csgo. haha.

No.. Lol. I have just started getting to know PCs about a year ago, and I dont trust myself in overclocking my pc. Plus the fans are already dusty as its been about 5months since i last cleaned it.. Too lazy. hahaha. But I want to ask, what is the fps in csgo for my system? Would it be about 300 or more? Since I think my CPU will be bottlenecking the gpu.. Right..?
