I have single Kingston 4 GB DDR3 RAM of 1333 MHz. Suppose, I want to make the RAM up to 8 GB, but I have two other Kingston 2 GB DDR3 RAM of 1333 MHz. Please note that the 2x2 GB RAM and the single RAM are equal in all respects except the RAM size. I fit them in two other RAM slots, keeping the other RAM slot dual to the 4 GB one empty. Would the PC show as 8 GB RAM?

He specifically asks if the total ram will show up, and it does. In my situation the total ram shows, but the frequency is not adequate. But as far as does the pc say how much total ram is in the slot the answer is yes.

Again, not always. if you search the forum, you would see a few that have issue mixing ram, bsod, memory stuck at hardware reserve, not posting, etc

Ok I agree but if you have 2 mismatch or matching sticks and the pc does boot then it will most likely display the correct total ammount of ram in the slots even if the frequency is not working right. And that is from my experience. If 2 slots are used and pc boots and only one sticks gb are showing them the ram slot is defective otherwise it wouldn't boot in the first place. Again this is personal experience. That's why I'm sure we can all agree just get matching ram sticks and be gentle with them hahahaha
