I currently have a EVGA CLASSIFIED 3 X58 mobo and am going to upgrade soon. Had it for 7 years and it hasn't blinked.

My question is what Motherboard company is on top right now? Does it come down to connections ect? I need some light shed on the subject.

I'm looking not to spend $350 on a mobo like last time on the EVGA, but I think $250-$300 will be the budget.

This is the processor...

If you ask 10 different people, you're liable to get 10 different opinions on best board. But one that is always in the top few is Asus. Their ROG line up may have something that fits your budget. But the top end boards are in the $600+ range.

If I was a competitive gamer, and a better OC'er, that's probably what I would have. As it is however, I can't justify the cost.

I am with you there on cost!
Completely true it varies whom you ask to best. Yet ASUS is mentioned frequently.
