I'm attempting to run an Ivy Bridge EP Xeon CPU on my test bench, but when I put it in, it won't boot so it is quite obvious that I needed a BIOS update. But as soon as I put my Sandy E cpu back in, it boots but gets stuck at the BIOS splash screen for a few minutes, my keyboard and mouse don't work, and then it will hang with a white cursor on the top left corner. I've cleared the CMOS many times, removed the battery for hours but no luck. I have also tried switching BIOS but still nothing.
Specs:
CPU: E5-1607 , attempting to run E5-1650 V2.
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X79-UD5
RAM: 16Gb DDR3-1600 (2X8GB) CL9
Video card: EVGA GeForce GTX 960 2GB
PSU: Corsair VS550
HDD: WD Black 2TB 64MB Cache.
OS on Drive: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
The RAM passes two runs of MEMTEST86, and GPU is literally brand new from an RMA. HDD is less than 100 hours in it, so it should not be failing. Tried too many tutorials online but non helped. Very desperate right now.
Thanks in advance.
