Hello everyone,

So after a ton of reading, i have overclocked my Q9550 @ 3.7 Ghz and the temps are 58' C(avg)at idle. Btw i did it on stock cooler.;) So i wanted a new cooler that could bring the temps down to 40s at idle. So whats the best cooler that i can go with..

Btw my case is small and, motherboard i am using is Asus P5K-VM..

P.s i dont mind liquid cooling solution as long as they cost less than 50$, and one last thing so ambient temp of my room is 32'C..

any help is highly appreciated..
thanks.

Take the side cover off of your case. Lay a stick across the opening and measure how much height you have available.Coolermaster makes good inexpensive coolers, Silverstone, and Thermalright are a little more pricey for their big coolers. Some, like the Silverstone Nitrogon, lay down flat if height is restricted. The bigger the fan the quieter generally. 120mm is full size, 92mm is the medium size. Just shop for an LGA775 coooler. The spec. sheet will have the size, fan speed and sound rating in Db. The fan is as important as the cooler, and so is airflow in and out of the case. You should be able to get one with 6 cooling tubes at that price. Thermal paste is important. Arctic Silver is popular. If you haven't already you should put some heatsinks on the VRM MOSFETS also.

Height is not really an issue as i keep my side cover open... but the case is quite conjusted from inside...

Most coolers will sit above memory modules w/o coolers on them. You need to measure, and the cooler MFG. website will have drawings showing the size. Some coolers are centered with the fan hanging off one side, others are offset so the whole thing is centered. There are dozens of sizes and designs. You can take an offset cooler and move the fan to the other side to offset it even more. You can also turn them sideways if needed. Too mnay possibilities to tell you what will work.

i m interested in Cooler Master EVO 212, so is compatible with LGA 775 socket.
P.S: my mobo is https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5KVM/specifications/ is it big enough to contain that cooler.
