Hi,
Just after some basic overclocking advice I'm sure it's been asked 10000x but here I go.
First off my new pc specs
I7-7700K
Asus maximus IV hero
Aorus extreme 1080ti
32gb ddr4 corsair vengeance rgb 3333mhz
Corsair h100i water cooling
Now first with the CPU should I just use the motherboards preset overclock functions?
Or is tinkering with CPU multiplier and voltage enough to get a stable system? Ideally I'll be aiming for about 5ghz although I know a lot is chip dependant.
And my last question is regarding ram. Should I just use Xmp profiles?
And also with Xmp do you just boost it to match your ram speed? So in my case 3333mhz or can you take it further?.
Had a bad experience with my 4770k could not even go up by .1ghz without crashing.
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks

Your board has a very nice OC profile setting in the bios... Go there and turn it on. It will configue everything on the board for probably somewhere between a 4.6 and 4.8 ghz... It should also enable xmp, which should set your ram up as well...

Once you have that setup, you can start playing around with it and probably push it much further if you want.
