SAPPHIRE 7870 how long after baking?

I bought brand new Sapphire 7870 1GHz edition in 2013. It worked fine until last month when during easy Skyrim replaying it just went off. I restarted PC and tried the game again, worked for few minutes and then the same. Lights out. Done. Artifacts and two main lines of green colour over my screen. I baked it at it works fine now, temps. are good. My questions is, how long 7870 can work after baking, any experiences? Thanks in advance.
