Hello everyone.
last year i've bought a fx8370E for my pc and for some good time i had overclocked it a bit (3.9 - 4.0). I do not use the stock cooler, but mine isn't the best too.
So, I was planning to, maybe reset the OC and test the cpu capabilities with AMD Turbo Core technology. most of the game never took profit from the 8 cores anyways.
Then I just turned back the OC and set Turbo to auto and stumble in an old problem: for some reason, when I turn of some of the power features in the mobo, the cpu turbo (that should reach 4.2) stops at 3.6 in every core.

I remember when i first installed it and configured the OC, the turbo tech just worked when i reset the mobo to "all default". I don't think is a voltage issue, because i've tried maintaining the OC voltage too, without any success.

OBS: last question: there's an option in bios to set the number of cores per Cu of the processor. (1, 2 or 4, from what I remember) could I get better performance in single/duo thread heavy games by setting it to 4 core per cu?

My specs pre-oc: http://imgur.com/a/elI47

I suggest you reset BIOS to default settings, then overclock to 4Ghz as you had before.

You could spend a lot of time and effort and money to get the CPU to run ~10% faster. The difference when playing games would not be worth it.
I mean, if you have a game unplayable at 15FPS, then you overclock your CPU, now you get 17FPS, it is still unplayable.
Even if you turn off half the cores to reduce overheating, you won't get a huge speed increase which you would need to make a significant difference when gaming.
