Hello experts, I am in dire need of your help. It's a router problem.
I recently bought the Asus RT AC1200GU router and did some tweaking in the settings for best gaming performance. And it did the job. Connection was stable, low latency and fast speeds. But the problem here is bad connection downstairs where there's most obstacle between my computer and the router. I can barely Google. Here are some info:
Connection type: fibre optic (30mbps)
Bandwidth: 2.4GHz
Signal strength: -66dBm (almost full bar)
Channel: manually tuned to least congested.
Preamble: short
DTIM: 255
Beacon interval: 1000
RTS: 2346
Tx burst: enabled
The thing I don't get is that with the same settings on the old router, at the same spot, I can play a YouTube video at 1080p with no pauses. WiFi analyser tells me that the old router's connection was weaker than the new one at the same spot. The reason for buying a new router was because the old one had very unstable connection issues. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Hence the new router, but it seems like it's performing poorer than the old one downstairs.
Any thoughts?
