I have seen a few Mobo questions here regarding GPU upgrades. I am looking to do the same but my sytem is a bit different than what I have seen.
AMD FX 8320
GTX 660
8GB Ram
PSU 400w

I can currently play GTA 5 decently and most steam games. I would like to improve graphics as a for now solution. Build in another year...or two.
Any help would be appreciated.

Solution

u could, my friend had the exact same build as yours, except that he had 16 GB RAM and higher wattage PSU of course, and he's really happy with it

yeah u should do some research on the compability and try to find the good quality PSU.
here's a tier list to help u: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

of course, since the mining craze is still pretty much on effect, u have 3 choice:
1. get a 1050ti and enjoy it right away
2. wait for the craze to go down and buy the used 1070 (change PSU too)
3. wait for Vega...
with that PSU, the safest choice for you would be 1050ti
playing at 768p with it should be fine, u ought to see some high settings on that resolution
but the best GPU that CPU can keep up with would be 1070 (my friend had that pair and he said it works amazingly, though your PSU will not be able to handle it, especially if it's low quality, pretty dangerous)

Wow...I didn't think I could go that high with a GPU.
So perhaps I could put a better PSU in...bump up to more wattage? Would I need to be careful of PSU compatability also with current set up?

nice, happy gaming
if u had nothing more to ask, u can select one of the answer as solution so this thread can be deemed as solved

btw, if u need a gaming friend, u can add my steam profile (on the low right corner)
