The wraith is a very good cooler for being included with a cpu. But if I could save 10 or 20 bucks by buying a ryzen without one I would.
How is it that its cheaper for amd to include this cooler with every cpu than to have seperate product lines for cpu only options.

Im going to buy a 1600 and sell my cooler on ebay. what do you think i should ask for it im in canada. Will the ryzen 3 series have lesser coolers and thell buy mine maybe. will they buy mine for apus sold without coolers

Solution
AMD does not pay much for the cooler, and not because they are bad, they just produce a significant amount of them. Why AMD includes the coolers is to compete with Intel. Most people dont want a big fancy aftermarket cooler, this is why AMD/Intel includes coolers in some of their lineup. So AMD has to compete with Intel by offering chips with a cooler. If they have a better cooler than intel, which they do, then it creates more market appeal to consumers. This is all about competing with Intel. Which AMD is doing very well with the Ryzen lineup.

As for your other question, I dont know if you will find much of a market for a wraith cooler for Ryzen right now. They R7 are only a few months after release, so if someone's cooler...

As for your other question, I dont know if you will find much of a market for a wraith cooler for Ryzen right now. They R7 are only a few months after release, so if someone's cooler breaks, it is still under warranty. People who bought 1600x probably bought a cooler to go with it. So it will not be easy to sale a product that is given away with chips.

I dont know if the R3 will have the wraith cooler, but we will find out soon. A Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO cost $25 USD on pcpartpicker, and I would rather have the 212 EVO than a wraith cooler. So I would think it would need to be less than $25. They only reason I would rather have a wraith spire over the 212 EVO is if my case cant fit a 212 EVO and a wriath spire is a low profile cooler.

Additionally, if you are not going to use the wraith cooler and buy an aftermarket cooler, then I would get the 1600x instead of the 1600. The 1600x is only $20 more and the real advantage of the 1600 is that it has a cooler that you will not use. Since the 1600x comes with XFR (extended frequency range), I would spend $20 more to get the chip with XFR.

Thankyou. I'd add that mindshare is a reason you don't want your product line to be complicatedly large.
I guess if i could i'd sell it for around 15 canadian$.
the 1600x is 35 cad more.
Thing is, I will be overclocking to 3.8-3.9. I'll be getting a

The only reason I'd get get the 1600x is if you tell me it's a far better binned chip and will last longer under my overclock with better heat levels. The funny thing is I bet you could get a ryzen 1200 to 3.9ghz.

All of the Ryzen chips hit a hard wall at 4.1, regardless of the cooling. But that is still not bad if you consider the amount of cores on the chips.

If it were me and I were buying an AMD chip, I would go for the 1600 and use the wraith cooler. I think you should be able to hit 3.8 with that cooler. However, if you want high overclocks, then the 1600x will get you to 4.1ghz on single core if it is cooled properly. Fast single core performance is critical for gaming performance. And if you want high overclocks for increased gaming performance, you should just go with Intel.

My friend got a 6700 and he says it keeps spiking temps when he oc. Also I want to spend less and have more cores for games of the future. the 1600 is a cheaper chip to oc I don't think ill push it past 4.0
