Hello, I just built my first PC and got it to work all the way up to installing windows 7. I have windows 7 on a USB (the USB has everything on there including all of the drivers) and I plugged it into my computer. Then my monitor says to install windows 7 and then i click on the button to do so but then it says it can not find the drivers. It gives me the option to browse and then one of the selections in the folders is the drivers. I try to click on it but it will not acknowledge that it is the drivers. I have even plugged the USB into a laptop and it shows all of the drivers available so I know for sure that they are on there. This is my first time building a PC and setting one up and I would appreciate any help because I am lost. Thanks

Solution
Windows 7 (and 8) are NOT supported on that chipset. You MIGHT be able to get it installed but will find no drivers and will not be able to access Windows Update for updates/patches.
Where did you download this copy Windows 7 or buy the usb stick with it on?

If you buy Windows you put the disc or usb in and boot from it then install the software the authenticate it when you get to the desktop. There should be no issues, i would advice you try and get a new copy.

What is the motherboard you are trying to use?
Windows 7 did not include the drivers for the usb 3.0 used on modern motherboards.
So windows may boot, but when it comes time to read the rest of the usb stick, it can't because of lack of drivers.
My easy suggestion is to install using a dvd and a sata attached dvd reader.

My cousin repairs PCs for a living and told me to go to Rufus to create a bootable USB for Windows 7 which I did. Then I downloaded the drivers that he sent me in an email because he said it wouldn't work without it. I unzipped the files and was

going to download windows 7 because he was going to give me the product key because he had an extra one that he didnt use. He was trying to help me save money but it is really confusing because I have the drivers on the USB but it says I dont.

Catch 22.
The windows initially in ram that was loaded from the usb stick does not have the USB drivers so it can't read the usb stick to install the drivers.

Some motherboards have an option for legacy usb2.0 support on a certain usb port.
Check your motherboard manual for that.

Otherwise, download windows 7 iso to a dvd
A$15 sata attached dvd can be temporarily used to do the install and get the drivers.
There is a more complicated process called slipstreaming where the drivers are included in the install stream.
