So just today my computer did this. I turned my pc off to save power last night, woke up in the morning went to the gym and when I got back I decided I wanted to play a game, so I booted up and it went to a black screen after the MSI logo. So I rebooted 3 more times and it did the same thing. So I left it on the black screen for 2 hours and when I came back it was on windows log in then I went to unlock the door for someone and it was black screen again. So I cleared the cmos and switched to ACHI and still the same result, also tried to boot to disk and got a black screen after the mobo logo. I'm out of ideas please help

No that didn't do anything different, it post I can go into the bios and change things but after the msi dragon logo it goes to a black screen, and last time I let it sit it went to windows login for a minute then went black again and I know it's not the gpu because I tried it in a different pc

It is odd that the problem is intermittent. I have had problems with graphics cards being recognized by the operating system that will give your results, but not intermittent in my experience. But it is easy to check if the system does load windows. Check the Display Adapter in Device Manager. If the system has a problem with recognizing the graphics card, then it will likely have two listings under Display Adapter. It will often have the graphics card and the generic display adapter. If the generic display adapter is present, it is a graphics card recognition problem. Then the graphics card drivers need to be updated which can be a problem sometimes.

Can you remove the graphics card and use the motherboard video outputs?
